Call of Nature on Oakwynd
Call of Nature is a casual guild that welcomes new players and veteran players alike. We are family friendly and roleplay friendly as well. The guild truly is a collection of wonderful, supportive individuals!
Why are you called <Call of Nature>?
The name is play on words between adventuring but it’s also a reference to how EverQuest has become second nature to many of us. You never seem to just quit and always come back to it. Will you answer the Call of Nature? We hope you answer the call to play EQ again and join us for the casual community guild experience.
Why should I join <Call of Nature>?
No toxicity. Low stress. We are the one stop shop for all of your casual playstyle needs. We are also a Roleplay friendly guild as well. Aside from that, if you fell behind your friends on a previous server then we hope to change that feeling by providing a robust roster of casual players that are encouraged to level up alt characters. We also want to complete progression but at a much more casual pace compared to other guilds. We will spare you the burnout.
Do you have any events planned?
Yes. In addition to raiding, we intend to encourage role play events on certain days, arena tournaments for our very own Best of the Best, organized fun events, and farming events to assist with questing and/or tradeskills.
What are your raid times?
The focus for the guild is not racing to raid. Raiding is entirely optional for any member but encouraged for all. We organize raids for our guild members to obtain quest items (such as those for the Epics) and other desired items. Our Raids follow a later progression timeline: now that Kunark has unlocked, we are clearing Classic Raid targets as well as starting on some of the easier Kunark targets. When Velious unlocks, we still be clearing Kunark content as we add the easier Velious targets later, and so on. We have Raid times on Weekends (between Friday evening and Sunday mid-day), and some other night(s) to allow for maximum participation of those in the guild and especially for those who need the potential drops. As the guild continues to expand, we hope to have events scheduled that are available for more than North America Eastern time zone. The weekend raid events are intended to cover a wider range of timezones.
Is this a feeder guild?
No. Our intent is to form a community of like-minded players that understand real life will outweigh the demand for hardcore raiding or other game pressures. IF a player chooses to leave for another guild then there will be no hard feelings. However, we hope our members decide to stay and help us grow. There are no requirements (or prohibitions) for leveling speed.
What is your policy on Alts and do you prohibit them being in another Guild?
We welcome alts. Some of us are alt-aholics ourselves. We accept boxing as well, within the confines of the server's ruleset. We also have no issues, with one or more alt being in another guild so long as it doesn't affect <Call of Nature> in any negative way e.g., not used for siphoning, spying, etc. We even welcome a player a member of a hardcore raid guild and also <Call of Nature> for the casual times. The only limitation on alts is that we ask recruits to be active for a short time before we invite their alts. For raid loot and event planning, preference is given to member mains. Only one character of a player is a "main" and all others are alts.
Is Roleplay allowed?
Absolutely yes! There are several in the guild already who are roleplayers and add that to their experiences in Norrath. If you're not a roleplayer, don't worry, no one will insist you roleplay, but you should be respectful of those who do. (and besides, the lightest of roleplay is really very easy, just think "what would my character say/do in this situation" and then respond in that way. The game mechanics are a part of Norrath and the characters do know how things in the world work, so game mechanics can also be a part of roleplay (for example, a druid knows what SoW is because it's a spell they can cast. They don't need to obfuscate it with some other name, unless they want to. SoW, plz?)
Just as we ask non-roleplayers ro respect those who do, we also ask all roleplayers to not have their roleplay disruptive of other game activities. In general, guild chat is not roleplay and groups might also not have a lot of roleplay either. We will have events (not all will be just sitting around doing nothing else) and already have an RP Tavern on the Discord where roleplay is highly encouraged.
Does my character need to be of a specific alignment?
Absolutely not! We welcome any who are answering the Call of Nature to return to Everquest. All races and all classes are accepted. If you are a roleplayer, we do ask that you keep contentious roleplay civil and entirely consensual with the other player(s) and be mindful not to disrupt guild chat or your group's chat, unless all in attendance consent.
Do you allow Red Names (i.e. PvPers that have requested and turned in their Book of Discord)?
As a matter of fact, we not only allow them, we're encouraging all who want to meet the challenge to have a character (or more) that has turned in the Book and set themselves to be PvP enabled. This is the guild's Hard-Core Challenge because those who have turned in the Book won't be able to receive any beneficial spells or direct trades from those who haven't. They'll be mostly on their own. We're also hoping to organize times when they can play together and, even more hopefully, find another guild with members who do the same.
We're also planning to have Arena events and other duals which don't require fully committing characters to the PvP lifestyle.
Do you have a policy on....?
We encourage our members to adhere to the original "Play Nice Policy" as it fosters a better wider community. We have no issues with members of the guild grouping with non-members and encourage filling empty group spots with those who are seeking groups with /LFG if no one is available in guild. We also encourage abiding by all of the rules of the game as outlined by Daybreak Games and Fippy Darkpaw games. Buying and selling Krono are acceptable under the rules set by Daybreak. Using third party applications to automate game play or get around the "True Box" ruleset are against the Daybreak rules.
How can I join the <Call of Nature>?
We have a Discord server: https://discord.gg/HHwqyNEwKX for all our day-to day communication. The Call of Nature Discord server is boosted to LvL 3, allowing all of the perks that come with that including high quality voice channels.
However, if you don't have a free Discord account, you can contact an officer in-game to ask for the next steps or email: callofnature.oakwynd@gmail.com
If this is a casual guild, why do you have a recruitment process and guild ranks and all these rules?
Exactly so we can remain a casual and community style guild, we have a recruitment period so that both you can get a feel for the guild and we can get a feel for you to make sure we will be a good fit. Sadly, there are some individuals who join guilds offering open invites that don't want to be part of a community and so things that would not only tarnish the reputation of the guild but also can hurt the individuals in our community. Likewise, sometimes a player will decide the guild is not the experience they're looking for and that's ok, too.
We have guild ranks to reward activity in the guild to further strengthen the community. The names of our guild ranks focus on the casual and community experience.
- Wanderer (initiate): One who is seeking a place in a guild.
- Traveler (recruit): One who is beginning to find a home in their travels. (Requires a completed application on our Discord server or a case-by-case descision)
- Explorer (full member): The exploration of Norrath is the goal of many in our membership even as they have found their home with us.
- Adventurer (senior member alt): The alts of the senior members, staff, officers, and leader. All other alts are the same rank as the main.
- Citizen (senior member): After a period of active membership, one is promoted to a Citizen.
- Champion (Guild Staff): Those who seek to champion a specific class or aspect of Everquest in order to aid others seeking that same path may be elevated to Champion.
- Council (Guild Officer): The council are there to aid all members and encourage newcomers as well.
- Governor (Guild Leader): The fearless one who took the first step to creating our guild and oversee all of its guidance.
Everquest is wholly owned by Daybreak and Fippy Darkpaw games. All trademarks of the game and server are theirs.
