Called to be Citizens

Image
Call of Nature continues to grow and build a community on Oakwynd. It's now four weeks since the server was launched (only four weeks until Kunark!) and all those who started in the first week and are still active are now Citizens (senior members). Our first wave of the 'last' promotions is impressive (and took me two days to get through in-game and on Discord).  In the first days after Mane posted the advert on the EQ official forums, there was a small trickle of individuals signing up on the Discord. While I was happy to see others were interested in having a more casual vs race to raid experience, I personally thought the guild would likely be at most 20-30 players. Oh how wrong this was! In the first week we had over 100 players in the guild. Admittedly, many who started in the first week have not continued to play, but we have had many more players join in the next week and each week following. It is a rare day, still, that we don't have a handful of new applican...

Called to Participate in Bigger Excursions - Tips, Tricks, and Info for Raiding in EQ

Image
RAID!!! Kills bugs dead... err.. gathering a bunch of characters together to take on a much harder target than can be taken with just one group. In Game Tools The basics the tools you need to join a raid is in the game: Raid Window, Extended Targets, Chat windows and filtering.  Raid Window One of the most important tools for the raid is the raid window. Here are some basics... Characters can be invited individually by the raid leader or, targeting a group leader, a whole group. If characters are invited individually, they will fist be put into the "Players not in a group" section. The raid leader can swap characters around in the groups by drag and drop. Some who were in groups might be put into the "not in group" holding section of suddenly find themselves in a group of one. Do not despair the raid leader is just working on optimising the make up for the raid. Raid groups are not like an adventure group. If there is only one bard, for example, to best utilize th...

Called to Expeditions Underwater and Facing Fears

Image
Kedge Keep Call of Nature went on its first expedition in Kedge Keep earlier this week to confront Phinno.. Phinu... Phinap... Phinny :)  Much fun was had by all with a few drownings. That last bubble of air is so hard to lose.  We might need a few rebreathers for future excursions. In the end it was Phinigel Atropos: 0  and Call of Nature: 1 Plane of Fear Our fearless 46+ers put on their bravest faces and went to the Plane of Fear. From our leader Mane: They met in the dark of night by an Agent who promised Change.  After breaking in, camp was established to the west.  An unsettling disturbance loomed over the horizon... Many fell. A resolution was made in that moment. We will return with a larger and better prepared force.

Called to an Expedition in the Plane of Hate

Image
Call of Nature has had their first event in the Plane of Hate to begin working on gear for future events in dangerous places. For many it was even their first experience with a Raid in Everquest. In the words of our war correspondent and paladin Champion, "As you can see. Plane of Hate is a very nice and gentle place. The mobs merely tickle with their hits. It is like getting a nice massage." In this first outing, we were able to take down two mini-bosses and many learned new ways to use their skills.

Called From Around the World

Image
The players of Call of Nature hail from locations around the world!! While most of our players are in the US, we have players in other countries as well, spanning multiple time zones so it's likely there is always someone awake in the guild at all hours.  Our first wave of members are now all Explorers which is our full-member guild rank. We also have our first Champions, guild members who have stepped up to be guides for specific classes or activities. In addition to our Council of officers, Champions are also starting to create events to involve the guild.  Ding! The over 200 characters in the guild continue to level up!  We have added both new players and new characters to the guild. And still continue to get applications and guild invites almost daily. The spread of levels in the guild is phenomenal, from new characters being started (some from brand new to the server players and others as alts) to the several who have hit max. Every day is peppered with the "G...

Answering the Call

Image
On Saturday 2 June, 2023, the 2nd weekend after Oakwynd launch, those of the guild able to assemble gathered for a picture on the bank of the lake in Commonlands. It's wonderful seeing us all together! Many others regretted not being able be there as they were deep in dungeons and other adventures both near and far.  For another view... All and all, a fine looking gathering of people. On 2 June, 2023, the guild has 231 characters carrying our banner. While this does also include alts (and some of have a few), on Discord we have 144 individuals who are tagged with recruit or higher.  From Woolworths week #1 report (delivered 31 May 2023): 208 characters played. including alts (and boxes)  208 3256 DINGS.  This amounts to a Guild DING every three minutes on average. (*Note: This does reflect we all started at level 1 and the levels do come faster in the lower levels + bonus XP weekend) We're off to a roaring start!

Call of Nature on Oakwynd

Image
Welcome to the Call of Nature guild on the Everquest Oakwynd - evolving TLP server. Call of Nature is a casual guild that welcomes new players and veteran players alike. We are family friendly and roleplay friendly as well. The guild truly is a collection of wonderful, supportive individuals! Why are you called <Call of Nature>? The name is play on words between adventuring but it’s also a reference to how EverQuest has become second nature to many of us. You never seem to just quit and always come back to it. Will you answer the Call of Nature? We hope you answer the call to play EQ again and join us for the casual community guild experience. Why should I join <Call of Nature>? No toxicity. Low stress. We are the one stop shop for all of your casual playstyle needs. We are also a Roleplay friendly guild as well. Aside from that, if you fell behind your friends on a previous server then we hope to change that feeling by providing a robust roster of casual players that a...
